Creflo Defiant - Wags His Finger, "I Should Have Never Been Arrested" - This is the Template We See Every Single Time

"She was not choked, she was not punched, there were not any scratches on her neck...I should have never been arrested. Ever. And when the facts of this come out, you will be appalled."  Creflo Dollar defending himself in his pulpit on June 10, 2012. See video report on ABC News.
-------------------------------
Mega church pastors ALWAYS get a standing ovation the Sunday after they make headline news for their misdeeds.

Even if in defending themselves they make their daughters out to be liars.

Creflo Dollar's performance was no different today, the first Sunday in the pulpit since his arrest Friday.  His performance and the response of his fans was absolutely textbook.  Mega church pastors and mega church members everywhere should take note, as they can learn much from Creflo Dollar and the peeps at his church.

Here is the mega church scandal template that plays out every single time the pastor gets his fanny in a sling:

- Pastor gets caught with his proverbial pants down (or as in Bob Gray's and Eddie Long's case, not-so-proverbial pants), and makes the front page news;

- Pastor stands in the pulpit the following Sunday, walks the perfect balance between being defiant on one hand, yet humble on the other (this is not an easy task, something probably taught in seminary);

- Pastor sheds a crocodile tear or two;

- Pastor will at some point wag his finger at the camera (perfected by Bill Clinton);

- Pastor proclaims his innocence of the accusations, and if possible, tosses an accusation of lying at the accusers, or better yet how he is a victim of the news media coverage;

- Pastor declares that his troubles are an attack of Satan, and proof that he is doing God's will;

- Pastor quotes the bible;

- The crowd shows their love and adoration and support by giving a standing ovation, many with their hands clapping and fists pumping above their heads, praising Jesus.

This same scene replays over, and over, and over again. Doesn't matter if it is a pastor caught harboring a pedophile or is caught trespassing by jumping an "itty bitty fence", or a pastor who is accused of grooming teenage boys for sex, or a pastor who is accused of molesting boys and girls in his office or a pastor who slanders a church member in the newspaper. It can even be a seminary president caught lying for a decade - when he gets back in the pulpit in front of his adoring fans, its all hoots and hollers and ovations. Could be a preacher caught on tape videotaping women in his office. Doesn't matter if it is a prosperity preacher, a Southern Baptist pastor, or a long-time holy man of God at a fundamental Baptist independent church.

The template is repeated every time: protect the church and the pastor first and foremost, and victims and accusers all be damned - even the pastor's own daughters who one must conclude are liars if we are to believe Creflo Dollar's statement of innocence today. In fact the victims and accusers all are tools of Satan to keep the pastor from his mission of raising money for his church, er, I mean, from preaching the gospel.

This template was accurately parodied in the 2011 movie "Salvation Boulevard" starring Pierce Brosnan and Greg Kinnear. The movie was an absolute flop at the box office, but those who have attended a mega church and have had their eyes opened will see much truth displayed in this humorous parody of a mega church and mega church pastor caught in scandal. Kinnear plays the role of an unsuspecting sheep at a mega church who tries to speak the truth about the mega pastor, but the pastor and church - even his own family members - turn on him and think he is an absolute nut case for daring to speak ill of the good pastor.

Here is the trailer of "Salvation Bouldevard" that gives you a good overview of what we see - protect the pastor, attack the accuser, defend the anointed servant of God at all cost, for the glory of God:

Just shows how stupid congregations are. No wonder these guys are so successful.

To me, sitting all the way across the ocean, the fact that his wife spoke to the congregation from the platform, but didn't mention the incident, speaks volumes! I hate to think of the hurt and disappointment in their home. The fear and rage that must roar, away from the public eye. And to think that he has an entire congregation that supports him. I wonder just how many of the folks who cheered and yelled affirmation, could suffer from the same sort of abuse as his daughter? On so many levels, this is a horrible tragedy!

Too bad he isn't a Southern Baptist so we could crucify him even more.

Yea, poor guy. Why don't we leave this super saint alone.We know these men of God can do no wrong.

Do the daughters still go to his church? Wouldn't it be rather awkward for them now? Or will they now say that they were upset, exaggerated things, and drop the charges?

I guess it comes down to if a group of people are convinced that their pastor is anointed by God and they just love that cozy little world where all is well, then something happens to give them a hint that it's all make-believe-they surely will fight, not THINK. They do not WANT to think; they want to stay in the bubble.

I mean what if I told people that anybody that was against me was in alignment with Satan? You'd think I was mentally ill. Yet, this is exactly what some of these pastors do.

Who is we?
I thought the police arrested him.

Heard on the news this morning that the victims 19 year old sister confirms the victims claims.

Ephesians 6:4
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath

Thou shalt not bear false witness.

The children are made out to be liars. Even if they were, then this shows that Creflo Dollar is not fit to lead his church, as he doesn't have a handle on his own house:

Titus 1:6-9
6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

-AND-

1 Timothy 3:1-7
1 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

NOTE: As verse 7 here states: MUST HAVE A GOOD REPORT OF THEM WHICH ARE [OUTSIDE OF THE CHURCH].

Bottom line: Creflo Dollar needs to STEP DOWN, innocent or not, due to the above verses as they apply to his own family.

A word about Salvation Boulevard - I watched it last year with a number of other Christians. Some were absolutely terrified at the negative picture it paints of a mega church and its pastor, the irreverence for institutional religion. I, on the other hand, found it absolutely hilarious, oh so true to life, and somewhat therapeutic. Definitely something for those who have left the megachurch to watch, something that those who are still in it - or want to return to it - will want to avoid at all costs as you will be offended to your very core. :)

"tell-all book that is sure to be written by Creflo's kids as they become adults."

Don't count on it,

Steve Gaines had a partying and internet savvy son, who was reigned in, drank the Kool-Aid and now he's a SBC pastor with a doctorate (all paid for).

http://www.bpnews.net/printerfriendly.asp?ID=30794

"Like Monica, (Donna) Gaines prayed and enlisted other prayer warriors to plead with God for her son's salvation. A year and a half later, God broke through and Gaines called all the prayer warriors together to pray over her son, who openly confessed and repented (of drinking with his football buddies) before the Lord. He now is working on a doctorate at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary."

This is starting to remind me of if you have a friend in an unhealthy relationship. No matter what the "bad" spouse does, your friend will not reject them. They keep excusing them, I guess, because of their own psychological issues. That's how the two got together in the first place. These bondings don't break up easily-they many times continue on and on, and you as the friend feel frustrated and bewildered, but finally decide you can only do so much.

So, anyway, even though it'an interesting soap opera, and I have a background in church and feel it did harm me--still, Dollar and his church members are very happy together. They aren't complaining. They don't care what he does. So why not just let them all do their thing. Why should we care if they give him every penny they have and ask nothing in return but the show they get every Sunday morning?

Take away their Tax Exemption, and any government benefits programs of those who give, then we won\'t have to care.

Obviously Creflo does not know how to control his anger - as one said "the fear & rage that must roar, away from the public eye" - there are many ways to discipline a 15 year old without physically choking them. The mother is to blame as well - the almighty "dollar" rules in this home - this is a man I would fear.

Yes, maybe that's what's annoying-people give them money and call it giving to God, PLUS the government gives them big tax breaks on top of that, and the government does the helping part w/ food stamps, welfare, housing, etc., etc. I think the churches get a pretty good deal!

That's an unfair remark. Your using classic, child-like argumentation techniques....lumping all pastors into the same category in order to make your point.

I like how you still take your subtle jabs at FBC Jax even when you've been paid to keep your mouth shut.

I'm saving all of your remarks up in order to report them.

Creflo Dollar update (scroll down)

When it comes to Creflo Dollar, I have to try really hard to be generous. He's a charlatan for sure. I've never heard him say a godly thing.

However as a former nurse and public school teacher, I'm loathe to find him guilty until all the information comes out (assuming that will ever happen). I've watched kids tell the most awful lies about their parents knowing they can't lose if it hits the media.

Well, obviously (after listening to the 911 call) the situation was such that the older sister was comfortable with the victim calling the police.

My father spanked me a couple times when I was young, but certainly not at 15 yrs. old. For him to think that spanking at that age was wise and appropriate is messed up, in my opinion. It would be like spanking another adult. Plus being touched in any other way and thrown to the floor is really bad stuff.

Well, whatever happens, I'll bet he doesn't lay a hand on her again, since she's shown her willingness to let the world in on how their relationship works.

I think she did the right thing. Bullies pick on those who aren't willing to fight back. And if you picture your own father doing something similar to you as a kid, you can more easily see how awful and hurtful this would be to have a father treat you in this manner.

Plus he's so steeped in scripture and a man of God-he should have more wisdom and self-control than most fathers, right? A wise father would know that he already has all kinds of power and does not need to resort to anything physical at all.

"Bullies pick on those who aren't willing to fight back. And if you picture your own father doing something similar to you as a kid, you can more easily see how awful and hurtful this would be to have a father treat you in this manner."

Just following the Jerry Sandusky testimony of how older men take advantage of the weak, counting on his peers to discount or disbelieve the testimony of the weak.

Right Paul Williams! and then have the cover of his spiritual leader, Steve Gaines.

So no one knows how this will turn out for the young woman, being that Creflo Dollar is both a leader and an anointed one of the almighty (oh, and has alot of $$$ and friends to cover for him).

I have no admiration for this man or his health and wellness preaching.

The problem that I have with your analysis is the same one that I have time and time again. Why do you always side against the preacher. You seem willing to take his daughter at face value. Yet the preacher is immediately a liar. In judgement, you have to take both parties testimony at face value and then examine the facts.

At this point, no one has enough facts to determine right and wrong. If it were my pastor, he would get the benefit of the doubt. In some situations, he might get asked to step down until the charges are settled. In this case, I would not ask him to step down unless I had a real good idea that the charges would stick.

Just my opinion, and I suppose that there is no value in unbiased reporting on a blog.

There is other evidence, including the statement of a sister, the 911 tape, etc. And this is not the first time something similar has been raised.

Please this man is not anointed....he's just Creflo Dollar a greedy man that only thinks that the ministry of money is more important than his family. It's sickening, for something to escalate to that level of physical abuse, it's clear that the Dollar's home is out of order. Look at his videos, he supports a sexual predator Eddie Long that gave millions to hush those boys. Thank you have his wife Taffi that did nothing. So for them to have a heated argument and have his wife not see what is going on in her home...seems to me that that is the norm in the Dollar's home. What would she side with her husband and not protect her daughters? Creflo is a control freak. He controls the money, the wife and children and lets not forget those ignorant members that don't have a mind to think for themselves. It's sickening to see this! Watch next....they will talk to the child Lauren Dollar and manipulate her again that she is wrong and need to ask for forgiveness. Pastor like Creflo makes other think that they are the problem.....NOT THEM!
What i like about Jax is that he put things in perspectiveness and make one think how these so called pastors and leaders are behaving and how they twist scriptures to satisfy their agendas and pleasures. Honestly, some of these pastors need to go! People need to stop giving and start hearing from God and His ways of direction. Not man!

"You seem willing to take his daughter at face value. Yet the preacher is immediately a liar."

A key point to me is the older sister backing up the younger sister's actually calling the police, plus her description of what happened matching what the victim said.

The preacher would have more motive to lie. After all, he's not only anointed by God Himself; he claims to have the answers for how to raise children. Getting arrested would be kind of annoying, and using physical force on a 15- yr. -old daughter is not a good example of parenting. So he would have reason to try to minimize the description.

Didn't the mother say she saw the daughter on the floor when she came in? How could that possibly be justified? I'd have a big issue with my husband if my older daughter came running to get me, and I saw my younger daughter on the floor.

It just seems unlikely that BOTH daughters are lying. And if one was exaggerating, their stories wouldn't match.

And the fact that the police were called suggests that this was not the first time something like this had taken place. If it were the first time, I think the daughter would probably not called.

Just my opinion.

So the poster wants an unbiased review of the situation but then goes and posts his bias?

Just my opinion,

Knock , Knock

"If it were my pastor, he would get the benefit of the doubt."

Why? Unless he (Creflo)is known for his humbleness as a person, wouldn't what you know about him lead you to NOT give him the benefit of the doubt? Can't we reasonably assume that a man who has managed to build a huge church, manages a very large business (or more than one) is probably NOT a passive, easy-going person? A man who stands up in front of tons of people weekly telling them exactly what God wants and doesn't want, what God requires of them, etc.-does that sound like a "Father Knows Best" kind of guy to you?

Didn't he even say he wanted to shoot non-tithers with uzi's in one sermon? It sounds like someone who is not shy about taking control of situations and being quite assertive or whatever in order to get his way. Plus he's got tons of people who actually believe he is anointed by God Himself. If that wouldn't put you on a power trip, I don't know what would.
