Thank you for bringing these facts to light. Whether some know it or not the view Robertson espoused is widely held by many white evangelicals who are there as missionaries. Black missionaries have promulgated the same in ignorance of the country;s history and the US's loans to Haiti.saint jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02592990540784692887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8384632623933772727.post-59664060094322476832010-01-14T18:58:31.347-05:002010-01-14T18:58:31.347-05:00Here's a interesting comment found on LiveLeak...Here's a interesting comment found on LiveLeak.com concerning Pat's Comments:

"Haiti was forced to pay France for its freedom. When they couldn't afford the ransom, France (and other countries, including the United States) helpfully offered high-interest loans. By 1900, 80% of Haiti's annual budget went to paying off its "reparation" debt. They didn't make the last payment until 1947.
Just 10 years later, dictator Francois Duvalier took over the country and promptly bankrupt More..ed it, taking out more high-interest loans to pay for his corrupt lifestyle. The Duvalier family, with the blind-eye financial assistance of Western countries, killed 10s of thousands of Haitians, until the Haitian people overthrew them in 1986. Today, Haiti is still paying off the debt of an oppressive dictator no one would help them get rid of for 30 years.

The rest of the world refuses to forgive this debt.

So, in a way, maybe Robertson is right. Haiti is caught in a deal with the devil, and the devil is us"viltfuAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8384632623933772727.post-91791666968562524342010-01-14T18:40:32.119-05:002010-01-14T18:40:32.119-05:00Robertson is another of these dangerous individual...Robertson is another of these dangerous individual TV preachers who hears directly from God while at the same time selling Jesus!

Pat supposedly had God directly contact him and tell him to run for president inwhich he lost miserably.

This guys is always making so-called prophecies(and other off the wall statments)from God that are never fulfilled; Which in the O.T.would have gotten him killed with the first unfulfilled flub!

Also Pat is no great theologian or he would not be making these thoughless statments!!!Bro./Pastor Rod H.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8384632623933772727.post-12299178008091663892010-01-14T17:35:29.531-05:002010-01-14T17:35:29.531-05:00My old SC Democratic Farmer Grandaddy put it well:...My old SC Democratic Farmer Grandaddy put it well:

"The higher the monkey climbs the tree----the more you see his tail!"

Pat is the master at tree cimbing, in my opinion and he seems to get better each year for those stupid enough to buy his 10-10-100 manure!Gene Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05726662612894104518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8384632623933772727.post-44095681186512088752010-01-14T17:20:02.401-05:002010-01-14T17:20:02.401-05:00First, it is irrelevant whether I agree with Pat R...First, it is irrelevant whether I agree with Pat Robertson or not. Let me throw that out there because my comment is not about my support or disapproval of Pat Robertson's assessment of the catastrophe in Haiti.

Donald Miller says in the beginning of his blog article that he does not want to debate the theological ramifications behind Robertson's comments.
I would have to dismiss Donald Miller's assessment of Pat Robertson's comments because of this.
It is necessary to look at the theological ramifications behind Robertson's comments because in order to agree or disagree with Pat Robertson, you must know why Pat Robertson said what he said. Pat Robertson is a theologian, a commentator of religion and world affairs.
How can you not examine the theological beliefs of Robertson, which are the foundation of Robertson's comments?
You must understand what Robertson believes about the devil and religion to understand his motive for saying what he said about the situation in Haiti.
It is my opinion that Donald Miller refuses to examine Pat Robertson's theological ramifications because he knows that Pat Robertson might not be entirely incorrect about why this has happened to Haiti.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8384632623933772727.post-6954154952428073802010-01-14T14:43:28.773-05:002010-01-14T14:43:28.773-05:00Article on the subject:
