Ergun Caner is "Back In Black"...and Yes, It Did Take More Than Edited Videos to Take Him Down!

Ladies and Gentlemen, our friend Ergun Caner is "Back in Black"...and as you'll see in the video below, "You Can't Touch This". Welcome back, friend!

Ergun was right when he said it takes more then edited videos to take him down! He made it back! Here is his latest message posted on his YouTube channel:
"No thanks to the frustrated basement bloggers, I have been the victim of a great deal of persecution. Just like Jesus. But as I said at the prayer breakfast in Bristol last week, it takes more than some edited videos to bring me down! Not sure how many apologetics videos I'll be able to do right now. As you can see, I haven't really settled into my new office yet, and still have a lot of boxes to put away. In the mean time, ask your pastor if he is looking for an expert on Islam to come speak to your church. I am, as always, for hire."
Seriously, some of you know of Todd Friel of Wretched Radio, and at the end of this clip you'll hear Todd's recommendation on what evangelical Christianity is to do with Ergun; this was broadcast on Todd's radio show about two weeks ago. When you hear a very smart evangelical who has no ties to the SBC or their cronies speak about Caner, you realize how badly the Caner defenders absolutely have their heads stuck in...the sand. Welcome back Ergun. We look forward to more videos.

  1. Mark Ergun Caner and avoid him that is for certain, the unrepentant liar he is. He is a disgrace to the grace and tender, loving, forgiving mercy of the God who is I Am. Maybe Caner is still under the wrath of God and doesn't know it? Horrors!

I for one gain not a single positive word that helps me to grow in the grace and knowledge of my LORD Jesus Christ from Caner's own lips or pen. He is a real stumbling block.....from the first time when my wife and I first heard him rant (it wasn't godly preaching) in 2006 until the present. He has not a single thing to say to me unless of course at some time he "TRULY" and "GENUINELY" repents with godly sorrow for "ALL" to see and brings forth fruits worthy of that repentance. Have not seen any as of yet.

God help him see his unrepentant wickedness.

As he snuffs the gale of popular applause!

    (J. A. James, "Ministerial Duties Stated and Enforced")

"In all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God." 2 Corinthians 6:4.

This verse implies that ministers are to labor for God—surely not for the preacher's fame. SELF is an idol which has been worshiped by far greater multitudes than any other deity of either ancient or modern heathenism. A minister is the last man in the world who should be seen at the altar of this vile abomination—SELF. And yet without great care he is likely to be the first one there, to linger there the longest, to bow the lowest, and to express his devotion by the costliest sacrifices!

Many become ministers merely to acquire popular applause. 'Fame' is their motive and their aim. To commend themselves, is the secret but powerful spring of all they do. SELF is with them in the study directing their reading, selecting their texts, arranging their thoughts, forming their illustrations—and all with a view to 'shine in public'. Thus prepared, they ascend the pulpit with the same object which conducts the actor to the stage—to secure the applause of approving spectators. Every tone is modulated, every emphasis laid, every attitude regulated—to please the audience, rather than to profit their souls; to commend themselves, and not Jesus Christ. The service ended, this bosom idol returns with them to their own abode, and renders them restless and uneasy to know how they have succeeded. If they are admired, they receive their reward; if not, the first prize is lost!

It is nothing in abatement of the sin, that all this while evangelical sentiments are uttered. Orthodoxy is the most direct road to popularity. Christ may be the text—when SELF is the sermon! And dreadful as it seems, it is to be feared that many have elevated the cross only to suspend upon the 'sacred tree' their own honors! and have employed all the glories of redemption—merely to emblazon their own name!

The ministry is not intended to be a platform, where the petty manufacturer of 'tinsel eloquence' and 'rhetorical flowers' shall display to a gaping crowd his gaudy wares!

When carried to this height, this is the direst, deepest tragedy that was ever performed by man, since it ends in the actual and eternal death of the performer, who forgets, as he snuffs the gale of popular applause, that it bears the vapors of damnation!

"The Spirit took me to the north gate of the temple's inner courtyard, where there was an idol that disgusted the Lord and made Him furious!" (Ezekiel 8:3)

  3. This guy is unreal. He's been caught red-handed and still plays the victim card. Shame in you, Ergun.

  4. Once again, yes I laughed. :) These videos were a lifesaver when Ergun pulled all of Mohammad's videos and tried to pull down some of his own. I owe a debt of gratitude to ErgunCaner and would love to meet him someday. :)

  5. OK, I LOVE the boxes in the background...great touch!

one of the best video's yet because he does not have to say a word!

Todd Friel is exactly right. This is why all this clamor over Church discipline right now is a distraction to the REAL problem all over Christendom: The charlatans.

The REAL problems in Christendom are impossible to exercise church discipline with ala 1 Corin 5 or Matt 18 (which is real specific and is misused by many)

At least Todd admits this because he is a big proponet of Church discipline but now he is being faced with the real problem: who disciplines the discipliners? Who disciplines the leaders who think they are exempt and are traveling all over Christendom? Matthew 18 does NOT apply here.

Yes, we must let others know about Caner and we must never do anything that supports his speaking business. If he comes to your church, give your leaders a list of all the proofs, links to sites outlining the proofs, etc. And let them know you will be warning others. You might get kicked out but that would be good. You will know you are not in a real Body of Christ if they do not care about truth. Just make sure that others know the real reason you are kicked out. They usually side with the leaders...at first. but the time will come when the strong arm will come down on them too and they will figure it out.

One cannot be in the priesthood and be a part of these authoritarian churches.

  6. Enough about Caner - he is not asking for another million dollars from the sheep of FBC Jacksonville.

  7. Anon 9:00 a.m.

Right, but for sure Caner would love to have another paid speaking gig @ FBCJ - will be interesting to see how soon his buddy Brunson brings him back front and center to the stage. Just a matter of time!

  9. I was very disappointed to read that Caner was a speaker at Dr. Vines' recent conference. Unfortunately, that does much to "vindicate" him in his own eyes and in the eyes of others as well. Very sad.

  10. He is speaking this January at a Scott Dawson event in Pigeon Forge TN. When the people from the conference contacted me about bringing my youth ministry I politely told them I had concerns about Ergun's influence over my students and would not be attending the conference. They didn't seem to care as the event has sold out. The more I have looked into this situation for myself the harder it is for me to defend this man or be his advocate against those who pass harsh judgement and criticism. I wish so badly that he would repent and take some time off to find restoration but that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. I can only imagine the kind of crude ranting he will be spitting at hundreds of impressionable teenagers in a few weeks. Shame on him and Shame on the Scott Dawson Evangelism Association for doing one of the worst things a person can do which is to pollute the minds of children with the words of an ungodly man.
