Caner's "Polar Plunge"

Below is the video of Ergun Caner leaving the chapel service this week at Brewton Parker and taking a dive into the school's swimming pool fully clothed. Then a bunch of other lemmings students and staff followed and jumped in with him while he fist-pumped the air.

Apparently Caner challenged his brother Emir to some sort of athletic contest with their schools' respective basketball teams this fall. But what this challenge has to do with Ergun flopping into the pool followed by some of the faculty, staff, and gullible students is unclear. Maybe they were doing it to show they were "all in" for Jesus. Who knows. You can't try to make sense out of Ergun Caner - you just have to sit back and enjoy the show, and marvel how he gets people to follow him.

There you go, Georgia Baptists. You hired him. He is yours. When you put money in the plate this Sunday, you get to help pay Caner's salary. Praise the Lord.

And don't forget to follow Ergun's tweets this weekend while he is at the WrestleMania 30 event in New Orleans.

Well, if anyone is interested in the long version of the polar plunge, here it is on You Tube:

I think we can all agree that Caner will build his BPC presidency upon gimmicks, stunts and diversions. Since he obviously isn't interested in true education, he will attempt to draw attention to the college through foolishness.

According to his Instasugar account, the following is his quote from his post:

    http://www.instasugar.com/i/ergunmcaner

"I hereby announce that I shall be the 30th entrant in the Andre the Giant 30 Man Battle Royal at Wrestlemania XXX #HorsemenRide #houndsofjustice"

Yes, he will be in a wrestling match. The president of BPC will be in the ring. We always want to keep it classy for higher education.

It would be nice if he would take five minutes and call in some landscapers who could spruce up the school's grounds. Driving onto the BPC campus is not impressive. Shrubs need to be trimmed. Doors need to be replaced. The pond in front of the president's home needs to have the trash removed. ......And, there is the matter of the condemned building.

But, who cares about education, SACS accreditation, dorm remodeling or landscaping when you have Hulk Hogan for the president............

  3. It took all those that jumped in behind him, fully clothed, about 5 seconds to regret the foolish impulse decision they had just made based on emotion, to follow their president. Let's see how long it takes the board of trustees to regret their foolish decision of having Ergun Caner associated with their school.

  4. Ergun Caner is the poster boy for the low-brow mindless entertainment-based christianity (small c) that the megachurch masses just can't get enough of. His jumping into a swimming pool wouldn't be so bad if it didn't so reveal his shallowness and lack of non-fecal substance. Now that the whole jihadi schtick has been exposed (though I really think he could probably still pull it off with most of his target audience), perhaps he could come up with a new routine. Maybe a Christian wrestler - the Terrible Turk or something. He could write a book about wrestling from a christian perspective. With a goodly dose of racist and fart jokes included. There could be a picture of him in wrestling garb making a ridiculous face on the cover. I see videos, action figures, you name it. I'm sure it would make a killing at Lifeway.

  6. It's part of the problem with the SBC....anyone with any sense is running away from the denomination....this is sideshow carnival stuff that only attracts the unthinking crowd....maybe that's what they want?

Nothing is allowed. Everything is done.

Some things are sacred and never change. One being, "it is easier to get forgiveness than permission. "

  9. Hey Ergun Caner. What about those pool safety rules at BPC?

    "NO DIVING"

(in video at second 34, 45 etc...)

Just wondering what rule you'll be breaking next?

  10. Yuppie: Your comment is exactly what I was thinking.

Ergun runs on impulse. He has done this in his talks, he does this in anything where he is the center. He goes by what motivates the crowd. The guy is good at seeing what makes people follow him. They cause him to like him, thus they will follow and defend him no matter what he does. It didn't work so much in his speech to the soldiers. It flopped miserably. But in a church or this setting it works like a charm.

  11. How long will it take them to get that horrible smell out of the pool?

I noticed that, too. Rules... like telling the truth... don't apply when your name is Caner.

  15. I'm so excited. I found a mayoral candidate in Jackson, MS who would be a much better fit for the office of Vice-President in Caner's administration.
