This is ground-breaking video. You've heard hot-shot pastors say "God called me" to their church, that it wasn't the job, the city, the six figure salary, or a land gift or other perks and jobs for family members. It was "God called them". Well, here you get to see how it actually works, when God actually makes the call.
Seriously though, the Ergun Caner debacle has reached such a ridiculous stage - the denials and the defenses and the lawsuits with more to come I'm sure - that all that is left is to make the points through parody. As Rush Limbaugh has said many times, sometimes the only way to illustrate absurdity is by being absurd.
And by the way, the video below is a spoof of this real Ergun Caner video.
Welcome back, Fake Ergun Caner, after a 2-year hiatus. Thanks for helping us make the point about how ridiculous this all is, and giving us a laugh or two.
Where is the antacid?
ReplyDeleteYou and your minions are a cancer in the body of christ.
ReplyDeleteYou mock, laugh, and tear down the work of God.
When you and your followers stand before God, I don't want to be anywhere near you. You will more than likely have sulfur in your nostrils.
All of you mockers like those heathen girls on Wartburg Watch will probably hear God say..."Depart from me, I never knew you".
Don't say you were not warned!
Do something productive like fighting Obama Care.
Re the copyright suit: I'm a lawyer and I believe this suit by Caner is patently frivolous, for numerous reasons:
ReplyDelete1. First, there is no personal jurisdiction against these individuals in Texas. The only basis Caner asserts in his complaint for personal jurisdiction is the fact that they knew Caner was a resident of Texas when they infringed his copyright. Without going into detail that is nowhere close to enough to establish personal jurisdiction by Texas over these defendants who are residents of other states. I see that the defendants have filed a motion on this point. It will be granted.
2. Second, it is not at all clear from the allegations of the complaint that Caner even owns a copyright on these videos. He doesn't own a copyright on them by virtue of his appearing in them. The copyright belongs to who created the video. If the video was made by the Marines or anyone else not connected to Caner then it isn't his video, and he has no copyright in it unless the creator of the video transferred the copyright to him. The complaint simply talks about "Dr. Caner's videos" in an entirely conclusory fashion. If the video was in the possession of the U.S. Marines, then that makes me think the Marines created the video. Caner doesn't have a copyright interest in a video just because he appears in it any more than Dallas Cowboys players have a copyright interest in ESPN's broadcast of their games.
3. Third, even if Caner does have a copyright in the video,
I left off at the end of #3, "fair use doctrine almost without question applies."
ReplyDeleteI also think I read somewhere that at least one defendant tried to strike a deal with Caner that he would not disparage him any more if Caner would just drop the suit. My question is, WHY would you make this agreement with him? Are the defendants not receiving pro bono services?
I was thinking about sending a couple of my children to this college, but you can rest assured that that will never happen now. I will not give this college a dime of my money after hearing about this. I am just glad I didn't waste any money BEFORE this came to light.
ReplyDeleteHey man, if you don't have a real conversion testimony, you just make one up. If this option is taken off the table, what on earth are the false prophets going to do? Well, I guess they could just say that they don't remember when they were saved like good ole Johnny Mac has been saying for years and it never hurt his religious empire or his book sales or his Johnny Mac study bible Sell$.
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad God spared me from being part of a state convention that supports this embarrassing circus with the peeps' offerings. Look where your tithe and offering money is going people!
ReplyDelete"You mock, laugh, and tear down the work of God."
ReplyDeleteNo we don't. Caner does. And we simply expose his false teaching. You support a false prophet. You need to get saved.
Does Dan Hughes write for the "Onion" ? Seriously , Dan, the "girls" as you refer to are trying to call out the wolves that you guys seem to have trouble recognizing. Your lack of discernment is so embarrassing , that it is no surprise that many people think Christians don't have an IQ above a grapefruit.
ReplyDeleteI'm calling Poe's Law on Dan Hughes. There's no way to know if it's authentic or a parody.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how some attempt to spin it, no investigation found Caner innocent, and Caner did not "step down" from being President at LU, he was forced out. These are the facts and can be found in several places on the internet that Ergun has not been able to wash clean or sue yet. There are those small colleges hiring Dr. Caner for the reason of getting their numbers to the status he put LU, so they are using him as much as he is using them.
ReplyDeleteI do not get how those who claim the name of Christ can lie about this. I simply do not get it as it is opposite of who we are.
There's a lot of things I don't get! Watching FBC tonight Mac tells everyone holding up hands in worship is in OT. It's more than one place. We are not Bible illiterates. If you can't resist quenching the Spirit which was clearly present in that moment then tell the whole history of it for those who may now think it is only in OT. You see, we used to have church training where we went in depth into a variety of Bible studies for the edifying of the saints. Does he think he is the only one able to teach us? We do have our own quiet time as well and the Spirit is a great teacher. He had to pimp his Israel trip right before the invitation. Are any of you deacons conscious? It looks like it's about him fairly clearly. It's nauseating. You just cut a bunch of employees & pimping a trip that only rich can afford. Would any of you scheduled for that trip please cancel and find out which kids in the church will not have any presents on the 25th and help them instead? Pray and God will tell you, you won't even have to ask any person.
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteI have found that the people who defend him the most actually know him. They can't believe that the sweet funny guy they know is capable of lying. Yet when you say "have you watched the videos" they will just mutter they really aren't worth watching or it is Caner "misspeaking" or the videos have been edited. They just refuse to believe something is true about someone they "believed" in so they choose to ignore the facts. It is probably a case of cognitive dissonance for people like Geisler....who would turn right and have no problem telling someone (such as a JW or Mormon) that they aren't believing the facts. Actually pretty weird. Those videos speak for themselves. If Caner was the leader they think he is, he would be apologizing for even the HINT of misleading people. But he's not...just look at his Twitter description..."defiant before Pharisees." Now THAT's a humble guy LOL
Good work exposing Ergun Caner. Please keep up the good work.
