Case in point: Ergun Caner preached this past Sunday, 1/26, at Maysville Baptist Church in Maysville, Georgia.
Here is what the church's interim pastor, Dr. Gerald Harris, told his congregation on 1/19, the Sunday before the "wonderful" Dr. Ergun Caner was coming:
"Next Sunday, I will not be able to be here, but I have conscripted one of the finest preachers in all of America to be here. And I'm not blowing smoke. Now he's a little weird but he is absolutely wonderful. Dr. Ergun Caner is the new president to of one of Georgia Baptist Colleges, Brewton Parker College. And he is really one of the foremost preachers in America, he speaks to about 120,000 students every year. But he also appeals to adults as well. So I want you to come, I want you to bring somebody with you. I want you to get as many high school and middle school students to come next Sunday because I am convinced it will be an incredible service."
It is bad enough that preachers bring Ergun Caner into their church, but how derelict do they have to be to purposely expose Caner to their most vulnerable and gullible members, their young skulls of mush? Yep, the kiddos will love the stories Caner tells. Maybe Can can get them to laugh at his ethnic jokes about Mexicans and blacks. Too bad that some of these kids will have to go through the pain of learning the truth on their own about Caner - and they'll probably wonder why their pastor, the Good Doctor Gerald Harris, purposely brought him in to their church.
Perhaps Georgia Baptists expect a bit more accuracy from Gerald Harris, given that he is the editor of the "Christian Index", the state paper of the Georgia Baptist Convention.
This is just the beginning of course, as Georgia Baptist pastors will be pushing and marketing Caner to their congregations - especially the high schoolers and middle schoolers and their parents - to entice them to follow the bold and brash "olive-skinned Turk" down to Brewton-Parker to somehow save the struggling college.
Are people in Georgia really that stupid - that they can be told that Caner is one of the "finest [and foremost] preachers in all of America"?
And one last question: where are these 120,000 students he is speaking to every year? That would mean he has to average about 2300 students per week.
Where did Doctor Harris get this number? Maybe from one of the new BP Cabinet appointees?

Hey Watchdog, you asked the question, "Are people in Georgia really that stupid?"
Well, being a native Georgian, born and raised in the Peach State, I will be glad and very sad to answer that question for you.
"YES, they are!"
That's what I've been trying to tell everyone. Caner will fit in just fine down here. Georgia seems to have the curse of ignorance flowing through the entire state. In South Georgia, it's epic.
I've truly never seen anything like it. Gullibility is an art form in South Georgia. However, while a lot of it is cloaked in the "Hey Y'all" persona, it's secretly bathed in corruption.
The State of Georgia received a grade of F in the state integrity test:
http://www.stateintegrity.org/georgia
This corruption not only runs through government, it runs through business and even in the churches. Drug trafficking, embezzling, thieving and nepotism is a way of life down here.
Therefore, a little lying to make a story a bit more entertaining will be accepted by most. I really wish I was wrong about this, but a lack of discernment is a huge problem in the churches today.
I originally thought it was mostly in the Charismatic Pentecostal churches, but it has infected the Baptist denomination as well.
Churches today don't want worship, they want entertainment, and therein lies much of the problem. A bold personality and an entertaining delivery can be confused for the "anointing". I've seen this up close and personal in Pentecostal churches.
My grandmother was a Sunday School teacher for 50 years before she went home to be with the Lord. She knew the Bible and had no problem with calling out foolishness. She would not believe what is going on in the church today. I can't believe what is going on in the church today. God help us.
Reverence and respect for the House of God has been traded for a circus mentality in the sanctuary. It has been getting out of hand for 30 years now, but I never dreamed that church folks would lose all sense of wisdom, discernment and common sense. Many have simply chosen to believe a lie.
History is repeating itself. Just look at the priest sexual abuse scandal and how it was hidden for years. In time past the priests snuggled up (so to speak) with kings, dukes, and powerful figures to gain worldly treasures. They approved marriages which they should not in order to appease the king either in fear or for their own gain. For example, Russell Moore, ERLC Pres, tweeted a link to a clip of Romney on the Fallon show. https://twitter.com/drmoore/status/427078512894156801 He is our 'go to' for Baptists regarding ethics yet this video has sexual language. We should not be shocked by the Ergun Evasion. Men have always done what they can to conceal embarrassment. Our leaders can't admit they looked the other way 'if' they wish to keep their positions. You can't speak against the king's marriage if you wish to remain cardinal. They will tell us what is good, true, noble, lovely, pure, and what to think on. It appears they are their own judges. A lot of things were said and done to the Rich family which went unrepented until they came to the light of public scrutiny. Would apologies have been issued if these things stayed out of the newspaper? How else can we look at the situation? Ergun can't keep this up forever. It seems the pressure is about to increase with the upcoming documentary.
I fear that the issue in Georgia is one of agenda, rather than ignorance. For some time various areas of the SBC have regarded Calvinism and Calvinist networks as threats. The editors of the Baptist newspapers in Louisiana and Georgia have been most vocal in this crusade. The Caner brothers are avowed anti-Calvinists, so the leaders in those states are throwing their advocacy in their direction. The Caner academic records are suspect, with doctorates from places like "The University of South Africa," but the most important thing is their lack of identity with the Calvinist side, so that stands above their posture as Christian scholars and leaders. For the record, I am not a Calvinist, Armenian, or whatever. I am an old-line traditional to moderate Baptist. I hate what has happened to my SBC that is so split asunder.
Don't you know, it's okay for these pastors to lie. We have to tell the truth, but preachers fall in the same line with politicians and used car salesmen....
And they wonder why people no longer attend church?
Are you guys surprised? The religious institution have been conning money from people for years by twisting the scriptures to justify their lie of mandatory tithing. What is a little testimony lie when compared to lying for profit, and preaching a false gospel of "repeat this prayer"?
Everyone needs to write their representitives and ask for laws making these religious themed businesses pay taxes on all that "non-profit" profits.
Do you think that the hierarchical authority structure inside local church institutions came from reading these Scriptures: Matthew 20:25-27; Mark 10:42-45;
Luke 22:25-26?
This is not the church that Jesus started. This institutional church system is a part of mystery Babylon, not the ekklesia of Christ. Come out of her if you truly belong to Him.
The hierarchical authority structure inside of the local church is adopted from the system that was in place in pagan Rome when Constantine made Christianity the official state religion. Scriptural church leaders are servants serving the members not the other way like we have today. The church’s only CEO is Lord Jesus.
Sadly, given the state of many preachers today, Caner may indeed be one of the finest and foremost preachers in America. It's not saying much.
An inspiringly infamous and very influential leader once said: "How fortunate for leaders that men do not think." The man credited with this very profound statement, was none other than: Adolf Hitler.
Wake up believer! Wake up!
I am a member of Maysville Baptist Church and I assure you that we are so excited about Dr. Caner coming to our church.
It is sad to read of the ways Dr. Caner has been maligned, misunderstood, and blatantly lied about by bitter bloggers.
We care about TRUTH at Maysville Baptist Church and we do not promote gossip like shared on this blog.
When we have 100 people saved by Dr. Caner, I am sure the bloggers will be quiet.
And by the way, like Momma said, if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all!
So, Todd, are you endorsing lying from the pulpit in numerous churches, lying to military personnel preparing to go to war, lying to teenagers in services at a Christian camp, etc? And still calling yourself a pastor and preacher of the gospel?
My grandma and my mother both taught me, that if you cannot tell the truth, say nothing. And, for Caner, that would have meant to stand mute, because he appears to be unable to tell the truth.
Todd: It appears by your comment you are not concerned about the truth.
"Todd: It appears by your comment you are not concerned about the truth."
People like him willfully chose to believe lies instead of the truth that's because they themselves have already strayed from any truth from their own hearts.
Todd Cook:
I just have one question. Do you think it's physically possible for someone to be born in two places at one time? Seriously. This is what Ergun Caner is claiming, or else he has amnesia.
Caner stated on one video that he was born in Istabul, Turkey. Then, on the John Ankerberg Show, he stated that he was born in Stockholm, Sweden. Now, is that possible?
Would it be possible for you to be born in Atlanta, Georgia and in London, England at the same time?
Okay.....two questions.......
Why has the church chosen gullibility and naivete over discernment and truth?
An Attorney:
Obviously Todd has no concern about the impressionable youth that will be exposed to Caner.
"When we have 100 people saved by Dr. Caner, I am sure the bloggers will be quiet."
Really? REALLY?
Are you THAT biblically ignorant to make a statement like that. Yeah, sounds like God has sent you strong delusion. No wonder you believe the lies.
What is he saving them from? Truth? The gospel? Jesus?

Ergun Caner just preached Jan 21 2014 at FBC Hazelhurst and says he is 100% Turk and raised a Muslim.
Oh brother.
"Todd Cook" is the same troll that posts here to get a response from the posters. He is completely fake.
If you knew "Todd Cook" was fake then why did you let his comment through?
Didn't realize it until his 2nd comment which I did not post.
Have some new information on BPC. This is awful. We are very, very upset about this because it affects some of our friends.
I'm going to post this here at "Watchdog" and also on Pulpit and Pen, because I've been posting there as well.
1. Caner has fired three VP's at Brewton-Parker.
2. He is currently working through the staff, looking at firing even more.
3. Before the firings, Caner told the staff in a meeting "I wish I could give you a 100 year contract because that's how bad I need you." Within a week, he began to fire people.
4. In an entire school staff meeting, he told the men in Maintenance, both of which had beards/goatees, that ".....if they cut their beards, he would kill them."
Ask any employee at BPC and ask any student. God help us.
Two more comments that I left out about Caner:
5. Caner told the students at one of the early chapels, that “if you come to my office too early, I might kick you in your throat.”
6. Caner also told the students in a chapel meeting that……. “I’m a teacher and not an administrator, and never have been. I told them that if I couldn’t teach full-time, that I wouldn’t come.
you asked for it and now you got it. Sorry.
Neptune,
If history is any indicator, if the students come by too early there's little to no chance they will get kicked in the throat because he will not be in the office.
Also, "I'm a teacher not an administrator" is at least partially true. It has been reported that at Arlington he was a terrible administrator. That leads to the falsehood of the second part of that statement: He skipped so many classes that students began to complain about missing classes. So, if he is a teacher, he certainly didn't demonstrate it effectively at Arlington.
Dr. Caner was kidding when he said all of those things.
Dr. Caner is a man of humor. You are taking his words out of context.
By the way, a lot of the "facts" you quote by him that you think are untrue, were just attempts by him to be funny.
He is a Preacher/Comedian and anyone that has listened to his sermons know that about 1/3 of his message is humor.
Not my cup of tea but I don't like to see him maligned and misunderstood...he is a good man who needs to be a little more serious.
Give him a break!
John Lineburger,
Kidding or not, these are not the words that a man of God should be speaking ever.
He is vulgar and a lot of his jokes are racist and hateful.
Students at Liberty constantly talked about him talking about his sex life or insinuating about his sex life.
They also used to complain about his teaching skills and his inability to make it to class on time, if he even made it at all.
He is more interested in being cool and doing things his own way and bucking at every hint of authority over him. Just take a look at his driving record.
He has no respect for anyone. Take a look at how he speaks about his own family and in laws. Even his own brother in law basically called him a liar on this very blog when Caner lied about his father in law getting him drunk on moonshine.
I bet you did not know he used to dip tobacco while teaching at Liberty. That's right? Ask Dr Caner about his past obsession with Rooster dip. He used to brag that the staff could never figure it out.
Give him a break? Why should anyone give this habitual liar and egotistical jerk a break.
I used to be one of his biggest supporters, now, I am embarrassed to say I even know the man as well as I do or thought I did.
His days are numbered, because he is going to screw up and offend or make the wrong person mad and then he will fall from his holier than thou perch.
Well I wonder where Caner got the thought to fire top staff. Same thing Brunson did when he came to FBC. As far as I know that strategy is attributed to Warren and Purpose Driven. ?go on twitter and put ergun caner in the search. Men from all over are calling him out on his lies. Caner Project should be interesting.
Looks like BPC is going to go full throttle in Caner's defense. A CBScott5512 just signed up for twitter and has commented defending Caner. He says someone named Minnie ie Neptune is feeding false information. Apparently they're reading watchdog and trying to deflect.
Easy way to check how a teacher performs in the classroom...student evals on RatemyProf. http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=264548
"he is a good man"
You obviously have a different definition of "good man" than I do.
A good man doesn't lie about his background for a decades to thousands of people.
Just wait a couple of weeks (maybe less)......the firing of the VP's will come out. BPC can't keep it a secret forever. Most of the staff knows, even though there haven't been announcements.
Just keep watching this page.
http://www.bpc.edu/administration/administration.htm
By the way, just to clarify, I am not "Minnie". I will only post as Neptune.
The men who went on Twitter (C.B. Scott & Peter Lumpkins) to declare that "Neptune" is sharing misinformation must not have a whole lot to do. You would think that with all of their degrees and extensive background of self-proclaimed awesomeness, that they wouldn't have time to discuss anonymous posters on Twitter.
At the risk of sounding dramatic, I literally fear for Brewton-Parker College. That school may not recover from the alien who has landed on campus. Right now, I cannot disclose everything I know, but if you care at all about Christian education and the staff & students of BPC, it would be a good idea to remember these folks in your prayers.
yeah bring all the middle school students. He'll tell his phoney story and if they're really lucky the school will agree to pay $40 a student to hear it.
Of course CB Scott will defend Caner -- Good Ol Boy CB just got himself a vice president's job under Caner. Scott is overly qualified for the post given that he had NO higher ed experience before arriving at BPC in 2012 (hired by Mike Simoneaux, retired president). Scott is a loud-mouthed caustic blogger himself who has only recently toned down his speech in blogs. As for Lumpkins, well he is now a VP under Caner as well. (www.bpc.edu)
Word is all over campus that Caner has fired two VP's, including the admissions guy and the financial VP who only recently got the campus back on the road to financial stability. No one seems to know who the "3rd VP" is who got fired. Seems the VP for academics just got promoted to PROVOST (like a school of less than 1000 students need a provost??) The provost is apparently in tight with CB Scott...figures.
OOPS. I forgot. Scott DID have higher ed experience prior to BPC: he managed a housing unit while in seminary in NC. Does that count?
Liars defend liars. What is so sad is that Caner is a good speaker, a stand-up comedian masquerading as a preacher. In that light, he tells students "it's all about YOU" -- something teens like to hear anyway -- and so makes himself popular among kids.
At this point, if I worked for BPC, I would be placing my resume on LinkedIn. Like the HMS Bounty Tall Ship that went down in the perfect storm, there came a time when the crew who served valiantly......in order for them to continue the life and purpose of the sailor, they had to let the ship go or lose their lives.
There will come a point when a BPC staff member will not want to be affiliated with that school. You will either parrot Caner, carry his water or be gone.
Let me remind folks of a scripture in the New Testament. My grandmother, who has gone to be with the Lord, and who was a Sunday School Teacher for years, warned me constantly about the great "falling away".
In times like these, wisdom and discernment are necessities of life. Deception wouldn't be deception if you originally thought the deceptive person was sinful or evil.
Deception happens when you believe someone is righteous, or honest, or compassionate, or truthful......and then you find out they're the complete opposite.
Let's face it. Many, many people will be deceived by the Antichrist. Many people right now.....in the charismatic mega churches.......are terribly deceived by the spiky-haired preachers standing in front of them. They never, ever question "pastah" living in the extravagant multi-million mansion or question where "pastah" found the money.
It's no different with the Caner deception. People can actually watch the videos, hear the discrepancies in the information, hear the inconsistent stories, and still fawn all over him. Why? He's a charismatic individual, a celebrity of sorts. He makes you laugh. He makes you feel good. To many people, it's all about how someone makes them feel. They are deceived. They don't see the heart, they see the entertainment value.
As one BPC student said, "He's mesmerizing, and he tells you what you want to hear." That = soothsayer.
It begins with scripture like this:
Matthew 7: 13 - 18 (KJV)
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
If you want information from www.bpc.edu, you need to get it now. The pictures of the Board of Trustees have been removed. Only their names are available.

Here's an internet. You won it.
