Thanks for the work you do exposing these blind leaders of the blind. With fools like them leading such large congregations, it's a wonder anyone gets saved these days.

Far from being great men of God, they impress me as charlatans, frauds, religious fakirs.

I imagine the graves of the apostles resemble high speed rotisseries about now.

If the videos you post aren't intended for commercial gain, then why have you allowed advertisements to be posted on your website? Obviously, you are making some sort of financial gain by posting these videos.

Anonymous said...

I checked out your Vimeo site and now have concluded that you are a money-monger just like the mega-church pastors. Seems like the love of money is everywhere these days.

Anonymous said...

But then, you do have to pay for that cruise some way. Maybe now you understand Mac a little better.

The funniest thing is the #7 Ed Young 'trying to figure out' what he could do (idea on money back guarantee), when #9 Robert Morris had already done it, very publicly, and is but a few miles away from Ed's church. Even his "idea" wasn't original.

While I think that these pastors truly want sinners to repent, and really want life change, I also believe that they are totally wrapped up in the money these 'followers' bring with them each week, and are constantly figuring out how to relieve them of that cash.

Take for instance Ed's new sermon series. Sexperiment. Starts this weekend. Same timing as the release of his new book. Sexperiment. Coincidence? I think not. Do you think he and Lisa will plug the heck out of that book, from the stage, so that all in earshot will be compelled to buy the book to figure out how to have sex with their spouse? Or, is it another play to get put on national TV to plug the heck out of that book. All in all, its about the book, its not about the marriages. He just did this series a couple of years ago to basically the same crowd. Or is it a new crowd?

In any event, those who think this whole series is about marriage are blind. It's about book sales. Plain and simple. Please forgive my cynicism.

Off Topic: Kudos to the Florida Times Union and reporter Jeff Brumley for doing an article on the release of Darrell Gilyard from prison last week. In a very brief article Jeff mentioned not only the crimes for which Gilyard was convicted, but the allegations for years that were known by Patterson and Vines.

Anonymous said...

To me Vines & Patterson were just as guilty as Gilyard. They knew him, but yet allowed him on the pulpit. FBCJ is good at keeping "secrets" as well as the Southern Baptist Convention they represent. Neither of the three should ever be taken by their word!

People like these 3 are the very reason people are dropping from churches - they have abused their positions.

Great videos. I watched a lot of the other ones you posted as well.

"Take for instance Ed's new sermon series. Sexperiment. Starts this weekend. Same timing as the release of his new book. Sexperiment. Coincidence?"

You are not cynical. Your eyes are open. The church exists to market Ed Young. The service is a big infomercial. They plug Ed's books, worship CDs, anything that people will spend their money on in the bookstore.

Granger Community Church had a great series on Sex called "Sex for Sale". The most meaningful message was the second week called "The Best Sex Ever."

Elevation Church had a great series by Pastor Stephen called "Bringing Sexy Back". He said he is tired of seeing God's people not having good sex.

Song of Solomon has inspired many of our greatest expositors to feed God's people the Truth!

I like how Watchdog is too insecure and too much of a coward to answer the questions about him making money off the videos he posts. He seems to avoid accountability and he seems to think he is above questioning. He's more like those he criticizes than he'd like to admit.

New BBC Open Forum said...

Oh, good grief. All free Vimeo accounts (such as Watchdog's) have advertisements. Any money generated from these ads goes to Vimeo and the advertisers, not to Watchdog.

Jim said...

Anon. Jan. 4, 6:25. According to your logic: it is perfectly permissible for preachers, whose incomes are paid by the tithes and offerings of their congregations, to draw huge, undisclosed salaries. In addition, they are free to use their status in those religious, not-for-profit organizations to create even greater wealth through speaker's fees and book sales. Yet, somehow, it is not ok for a layman to earn a few bucks through advertisements on his personal blog? Your dislike for Mr. Rich is obvious, but your logic is tortured.

FBC Jax Watchdog said...

Anon - I would answer your questions about the ads running on the Watchdog site, but:

- I don't answer questions that come my way from anonymous bloggers like yourself.

- if I did answer your questions it would just raise more questions and you'd never be satisfied.

- if you really want to know, schedule a meeting with me and I'll answer all your questions.

- you're just a petty, jealous, bitter anonymous blogger, and I don't answer people like you.

:) That felt good.

Anonymous said...

Let's see how this works.

You say you don't answer questions from an anonymous blogger but yet you condemn Mac for doing the same thing.

You say the anonymous blogger should call and schedule a meeting with you yet you didn't do that with Mac.

That my dear brother is the height of hypocrisy.

Anonymous said...

Watchdog can't defend himself. He uses all the hallmark forms of fallacious logic in his posts and in his defense of criticisms raised against him (straw man arguments, character assassination, misstating his opponents' point of view, etc....). You are obviously acting sinful by flippantly calling people jealous and judging them when you don't know that to be true. Such actions are a clear contradiction of Scripture which teaches us not to judges other's motives. Sure we can judge and make discernments, but we can't pretend to know the content of another's heart.

I find it ironic that you won't answer simple questions about why you make money off those videos and this blog when you LIE and say you don't during the intro to the video.

You are so guilty of the sins for which you cast stones at others. I'm not judging your heart (as you did mine). I'm just describing what is plainly evident through your sinful name calling and hypocrisy.

Perhaps you are so irritated by supposed money hungry mega church preachers because you are a money hungry, man yourself. Again, I'm not judging your heart. Your law suits, lies, and unwillingness to be honest is fruit that reveals your sinful condition.

If I used the same logic you used with me, I'd say....Watchdog is just jealous of Mac's position, power, and possessions. That's why he blogs negatively against him. It's not because he ran you out of the church. You started this blog before he did such.

You see the sin and shortcomings of others so well, because you are well acquainted with such prideful sin yourself. It is plain and evident for all to see on this blog.

Sure, defending the truth is important. Warning of corrupt preachers is also important (not that I think Mac is corrupt). But something is wrong when a man never displays the fruits of the Spirit and the humility of Christ (Phil. 2:5-10).

By your fruits you will know them. Your fruits are all over this blog.

FBC Jax Watchdog said...

Your post is classic. I think you must be a troll. No one would dare judge a person's heart like you do mine, and at the same time say they aren't judging a person's heart and throw scripture in. Is that you, Danny? :)

But I do take pleasure that this blog causes you such distress that you would make such comments about me. Tells me I'm on the right track.

And your premise is wrong, I've never made a cent off of this blog, or any ads that have displayed on the blog.

Anonymous said...

"Troll"....wow! Classic! When you have neither a reasonable defense nor the mentality to dialogue, resort to name calling. You're immaturity and ignorance is amazing.

Your little line about me being fascinated with you is yet another diversion to distract from talking about the real issues. If i used your same line of reasoning, we could say that you have an obsession with mega church pastors.

"Danny"....I have no idea of who you speak. But go on with your imaginations and bouts with insanity.

And as far as my use of Scripture, I figured some use of it would be appropriate on this blog....

If watchdog is so wrong all the time why is fbcjax in decline? All you have to do is look at the size of the youth choir to figure out that it is? People aren't stupid and young adults see right through the show.

Are you SILLY?

Youth Choirs are D E A D!
Adult Choirs are D E A D!

We have a ROCKING youth band at FBC that loves Jesus and plays like Psalm 150.

Please don't give me the Homer Lindsay junk about the good ole days...that day is G O N E.

There is new wine in the wineskins and it tastes really good.

Try it sometime....

WD, your latest anonymous attacker is really entertaining. His "tortured logic" is amazing and shows desperation. He must be a mega church preacher. Keep up the good work.

FBC Jax Watchdog said...

Anon - "troll" is not name calling, it is describing what you are doing. I've let you have your say about me and the blog and my motives, so please move along. Thanks.

Mark said...

If by "ads" you mean the "sponsored links" on the Vimeo pages, that's Vimeo making money not WD. That's the price of getting free video hosting. Sheesh people.

Anonymous said...

I truly don't get that large groups of people sit and listen to their pastors talk about sex. I'm embarrassed and uncomfortable just thinking of that scenario.

I, like most people, figured out my sex life without the help of my pastor. Do I need his advice? Do I need him to explain what God wants my sex life to be like? Do I have the slightest desire to hear about the pastor and his wife's sex life? Most definitely not. Aren't some things supposed to be very special and very private?

I don't discuss my sex life with others and have no desire to hear about theirs. I mean, good grief, how would their partner feel to know that they were being discussed?

Besides-WWJD? Shouldn't the pastor be telling us to get out there and be useful and do some good in the world? Or is that too boring of a subject?

I guess it's all about titillating people and selling books. I guess the gospel got boring.

In the future, in order for the church to be successful they must be authoritarian. they must sell submission which is opposed to individualism.

Wow TROLL - you are really stupid!

Everyone with a brain (that apparently excludes you) knows that Vimeo is making the money from their online ads.

Are you really that ignorant? Or are just just desperate to try to pin something on WD because he shines the light of truth on your object of worship (Mac)?

Keep in mind folks, this is the level of intellect of the average man-worshiper.

I understand this post and the prior post on the top stories and videos are based on views, but I give my own biased best post/video of a series of posts: Christian, You are Free from the Duty to Tithe, and Free to Give as the Holy Spirit Leads You. This post was the culmination of a series of posts of Wade's sermon at Emmanuel.

Also, this one post outside of this blog that will knock the socks off your feet is Paul Burleson > FOREVER CHANGING FORMS. Think of a post that changes your frame of reference. Paul did post a similar post last year, but this year's is more up to date.

WD, your assumption about Thom Rainer couldn't be further from the truth. The question that was asked by the man (who had a personal beef with Dr. Rainer) had been asked at each of the last three SBC meetings. I personally was thrilled to see Dr. Rainer call him out on his agenda and let the entire convention know that this wasn't about that question, because the person's question had been asked an answered several times.

In regards, to your anonymous attacker... He/She is spot on!

I agree with the statement of Rick Brentlinger - you are really getting under the skin of some of these
posters - why don't they man up & say who they are since they seem to know everything about you!

This is going to be a good year Watchdog - you've got to many people of your team who believe in you. Keep up throwing the darts at these attackers as you speak the truth.

Anonymous said...

"In regards, to your anonymous attacker... He/She is spot on!"

Really, which part is spot on?

The part where he falsely accuses WD of profiting from this blog because Vimeo put adds on their site?

The part where he hypocritically criticizes WD for criticizing his pastor?

Or the part where he says he isn't judging his heart and then falsely impugns his motivations, makes straw-man arguments and ad hominem attacks?

Stupid is as stupid does.

I love it! The classic - non-denial denial regarding Danny. Psychology 101 - good one WD - you rooted him out. He is the new hit man for Mac. You got him to respond to your Danny comment - AND HE DID! He couldn't help but answer that - it is in our nature - love it!

"ain't none of yo' bidness"

You know Tom that anon poster does make a couple of good points about hypocrisy. I'd like to add to his short list.

Another example of hypocrisy in some of your blog writings would be your criticism of Pastor Brunson and his supposed nepotism. You claim it is wrong for pastor Brunson to have his son on staff because it is nepotism, but when you originally joined First Baptist, Dr. Lindsay Jr. was pastor and son of the late senior pastor of fbcjax, Dr. Homer Lindsay Sr. At one point, it was father and son pastoring and co-pastoring FBCJax.

You joined a church already corrupt of nepotism, according to your belief that its wrong for a pastor to have his son on staff. So what was different then, instead of now?

Anonymous said...

Robert, there is a whale of a difference in having one's son at age 41 being alongside their dad than one who is 21 or 22. Get over yourself.

Great job Watchdog

Now that you have exposed these pastors who have gone PURPOSE DRIVEN in CHURCH GROWTH. They so ruined their churches and are now hurting for money as their members become fewer and fewer. Why don't you look at how their SOUL WINNING is going? After all, isn't SOUL WINNING one of the most important reasons for church?

I know this is off the subject. However, I know soul winning is always on your heart.

What do you think Tom?

Friend.

Shucks, this Blog is not of God.

God is not a God of disorder. This Blog is tearing FBC up, you know it and I know it.

God HATES people that sow disunity....so does God hate YOU?

God HATES a lying tongue....Lies Lies Lies....I don't have the time or space to expose all the lies of the Devil here.

No, Mac did not put me up to this...Jesus did...blame him

Anonymous said...

"But I do take pleasure that this blog causes you such distress that you would make such comments about me. Tells me I'm on the right track."

Amen. You are smashing their idols and they don't like it.

WishIhadknown said...

Anon, if, as you say, God hates those that sow disunity, then God must truly hate the present batch of high living preachers that populate the churches’ pulpits today. They have done more to cause division than a million Watchdogs. This blog is the same thing as your morning newspaper. If the preachers preached the Gospel the way they say they do then there would be nothing to report. Likewise, if the preachers lived the lives they said they do instead of the high living, high society lives they are living there would be nothing to report. Open your eyes to the sufferings of your brothers and sisters. Open your ears and hear the cries of those who are hurting.

Anonymous said...

"God HATES a lying tongue...."

Does that mean that God HATES Ergun Caner?

Anonymous said...

"You know Tom that anon poster does make a couple of good points about hypocrisy. I'd like to add to his short list."

Here's another for your list.

Isn't it disingenuous to condemn a blog publicly (from the pulpit) going as far as to pass a resolution asking church members not to read what is written here, and then to have you not only follow it but leave comments regularly?

Seems there must be something to what WD is writing or you wouldn't feel the need to disobey the church resolution that you helped to pass.

Frankly, it smacks of desperation.

Anonymous said...

"You joined a church already corrupt of nepotism, according to your belief that its wrong for a pastor to have his son on staff. So what was different then, instead of now?"

Bill O'Reilly refers to this tactic (generally employed by the left) as "excusing bad behavior by pointing to other bad behavior."
